Hex TD is tower defense game from The Noid. This game is inspired by excellent Vector TD game.

Hex TD is written in Java. It might be problem in some browsers. I am programmer in Java also, and I know that write good Java applet with good graphics is not easy. Especially write game in Java is not easy too. Who wants to see source code for this game, it might to download it from pages of game. I must say that I was surprised with this game. As I say above this game is inspired by Vector TD game. Game has similar enemies and also towers. Cells are from hexagons and it means every cell can have 6 neighbours. In game you can use these shortcut keys:

  • P: Pause
  • F: Fast-Forward
  • S: Sell (Yes/No)
  • U: Upgrade
  • W: Next Wave
  • T: Next Targeting mode

Interest is 3% plus 3% per unspend bonus point. Upgrades increase damage with 45% and range with 7%. You can build 4 basic towers. And all these towers can be build in 3 levels. Higher level of tower is stronger and has more possibilities. You can also buy

Green Tower 1
Basic tower with one weak laser. Strong against green enemies, very weak against red enemies.
Price: 100 Damage: 5 Range: 4 Refire rate: 20/s
Red Tower 1
Tower with one laser. The impact of this laser does splash damage to all enemies surrounding the target. Strong against red enemies, very weak against green enemies.
Price: 200 Damage: 35 + splash Range: 5 Refire rate: 4/s
Yellow Tower 1
Basic tower with one strong laser that draws energy from the target for 2 seconds before firing. Strong against yellow enemies, very weak against blue enemies.
Price: 300 Damage: 600 Range: 8 Refire rate: 0.5/s
Blue Tower 1
Tower with four energy beams that overheat the targets engines, reducing it's top speed. More hits make the effect last longer and upgrading the tower makes the effect stronger. It's effect is strong against blue enemies but very weak against purple enemies.
Price: 500 Damage: none, slowdown instead Range: 5 Refire rate: 0.25/s

Green Tower 2
Tower with one medium laser that refracts from the first target to a second. Both targets receive full damage. Strong against green enemies, very weak against red enemies.
Price: 7 000 Damage: 500 Range: 4,5 Refire rate: 20/s
Red Tower 2
Tower firing fast homing projectiles with a small splash radius. When the projectiles lose their target they continue to the last known location and detonate. Strong against red enemies, very weak against green enemies.
Price: 20 000 Damage: 20 000 + splash Range: 8 Refire rate: 1.25/s
Yellow Tower 2
Like yellow tower 1, but if the target is destroyed before firing, and a new target is in range, 50% of the charge is contained. Strong against yellow enemies, very weak against blue enemies.
Price: 25 000 Damage: 120 000 Range: 8 Refire rate: 0.5/s
Blue Tower 2
Tower with four energy beams that overheat the targets reactor, reducing it's power output and thus it's speed. More hits make the effect last longer and upgrading the tower makes the effect stronger. It's effect is strong against blue enemies but very weak against yellow enemies.

Green Tower 3
Tower with one strong laser that refracts from the first target to a second and a third. All three targets receive full damage. Strong against green enemies, very weak against red enemies.

Red Tower 3
Tower firing slow, heavy homing projectiles with a large splash radius. The projectiles might be to slow to catch some enemies! Strong against red enemies, very weak against green enemies.
Price: 2 500 000 Damage: 15 000 000 + splash Range: 15 Refire rate: 0.33/s
Yellow Tower 3
Like yellow tower 2, but if the target is destroyed before firing, only 10% of the charge is lost. When there is no target available the charge will gradually drop to zero. Strong against yellow enemies, very weak against blue enemies.

Blue Tower 3
This tower generates a rift in the space-time continuum, causing it's target to be thrown back in time. Strong against blue enemies, very weak against yellow enemies.
Price: 5 000 000 Rewind: 4 Range: 4 Refire rate: 2/s

You can also buy bonus buildings. But you need to earn before bonus point from some levels. Bonus buildings:

  • Fire Control This tower controls the targeting of other towers and can force them to fire at the same, or different targets. It has no effect on Blue Towers 1 & 2.
  • Damage Upgrade Increases the damage of other towers.
  • Range Upgrade Increases the range of other towers.

On the right bottom you can see info about actual and next wave. You can also use Wave Generator. It is available on pages of game. All towers can be upgraded many times, and also can be sold.

Hex TD is excellent tower defense game with open source Java code. I love this game. It is very difficult game, but you will enjoy time you'll spend with this game.
